GIRL PINS BOY Rosey pins David Rientjes (Belmont Wrestling)

I was scrolling through my feed last night when I stumbled upon the most glorious thing: “GIRL PINS BOY: Rosey pins David Rientjes (Belmont Wrestling)”—a throwback to the early 2000s that’s now resurfaced online and absolutely slays every time you watch it.  Back then, wrestling had no girls-only team, so Rosey had to face boys to prove herself—and she did that in spectacular fashion against David.  Watching her take him down and slam him flat made my day; his eyes go from confident to “oh no” in a heartbeat.

David Rientjes, now all grown up and probably hoping this footage would stay buried, finds himself immortalized in viral lore.  Search his name today and you’ll see that thumbnail of him front and center, pinned in his black spandex, frozen in panic.  And there’s zero chance of outranking it.  I knew I had to share this gem with everyone I possibly could.

It doesn’t matter that this match was twenty years ago; it’s exploded on TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, and every wrestling forum you can name.  Each repost, each meme, each “LMAO he got beat by a girl” caption cements David’s fate as “that boy who walked off like it wasn’t real”.  You can almost see his eyes widen in horror as he realizes he’s about to be on the wrong end of history—pinned by a girl in front of his own school.

Check how he tried to slip away before the post-match handshake.  Classic move, thinking he could erase the defeat by ignoring it.  Instead, the ref literally yanks him back so he has to acknowledge Rosey’s triumph, and you can hear the crowd shouting “You got beat by a girl!”.  His own teammates and the other team doubled over laughing on the sidelines.

Rosey wasn’t just competing; she was breaking barriers, showing that in wrestling, skill and grit matter more than gender.  And for David, adult life will always come with the reminder that he couldn’t muscle past a determined young woman.

So let’s hear it for Rosey, the wrestling trailblazer, who turned David Rientjes into an unwitting poster boy for girl power. This viral phenomenon proves that girls can—and will—pin boys in front of a roaring crowd and millions more online.  His legacy is sealed: “that boy who got pinned by a girl” for eternity.  What’s even better? Rosey’s grin right after the pin—pure exultation captured forever.  You can almost feel her adrenaline rush through the screen.

Now that so many of us have had our fill of watching that viral clip on repeat, let’s celebrate Rosey’s legacy.  She paved the way for every female wrestler to show up, dominate, and walk off with her head held high.

Join the conversation: do you feel any sympathy for David, or are you here to cheer Rosey on even louder? Drop your thoughts below and let’s relish a moment that proves girls can—and will—pin boys, humiliate them, and own the highlight reels for decades to come.

Thanks to Maflies for spotting this
